The impact players rule has added a new essence to T20 cricket by introducing a substitute player. In other terms, a bench player replaces an existing player in the playing XI either to add depth to the batting or bowling lineup. Yash Dayal, the uncapped Indian pacer, was the first impact player of IPL 2024, who was substituted in place of Dinesh Karthik in the opening match against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
