Team India arrived in Durban ahead of the South Africa T20I series: A greetings by rain and a grand welcome

Finally, Team India arrived in Durban on 7th December 2023 ( Thursday) ahead of the T20I series against South Africa. After winning a 5-match T20I series with 4-1, Suryakumar Yadav as the stand-in captain will lead his side for the 3-match T20I series starting from 10th December 2023.

Suryakumar Yadav and his men started on 6th December 2023 (Wednesday) from Bengaluru and reached South Africa the subsequent day.

The moment Team India landed at the Airport, a glimpse of the training session was experienced with rain coming into action. A couple of cricketers were witnessed running towards the bus while covering their heads using their heavy luggage.

Heavy rain at King Shaka International Airport forced the players to travel outside with suitcases on their heads.

Notably, Team India’s next batch is expected to arrive soon for the upcoming 3-match ODI series that commences on 17th December 2023 (Sunday). After 2021, KL Rahul will once again lead the Indian cricket team for the ODI series against South Africa on their home ground, following the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are awaited to land in South Africa after the completion of the white ball series. The forthcoming 2-match test series starts from 26th December 2023 and Rohit Sharma as a skipper is set to lead his team.

Since India hasn’t won a single test match in South Africa, Rohit Sharma and his men will be focusing on red-ball cricket to break the jinx.

Along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, senior cricketers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammad Shami were rested for the white-ball cricket series against South Africa.

Rarely, did Team India win the White ball series on South African soil, but never registered a test-series win.

Especially, in 2021, India lost the 3-match ODI series against South Africa with a complete whitewash under KL Rahul’s captaincy. On the other side, India lost the 3-match test series against South Africa under Virat Kohli’s captaincy with a record of 1-2 on their home ground.
