The return of Jasprit Bumrah is a big boost to Indian cricket as the ODI World Cup 2023 approaches. India will host this event from early October, and fans are excited with Bumrah’s comeback to competitive cricket. The country’s pace bowling arsenal gets a much-needed addition with Bumrah scheduled to play a major role in India’s tour of Ireland.
When Last Did Jasprit Bumrah Play International Cricket?
Jasprit Bumrah has been on the sidelines since September 2022. He last featured in a T20I series against Australia and required surgery for a nagging problem shortly after that. Bumrah had a successful surgery in New Zealand before progressing on a recovery path at a cricket academy in Bengaluru.
What is the BCCI Saying about the Return of Jasprit Bumrah?
BCCI officials recently commented that Bumrah’s “bowling with full intensity in the nets” has been sorely missed. Such comments came after fans learnt Bumrah is showing signs of a full comeback in training.
Head Coach for the Ireland tour VVS Laxman also seems satisfied with Bumrah’s progress, deliberating with medical and cricket academy staff to see him return to active cricket.
Will Jasprit Bumrah Take Part in the Asia Cup 2023?
There is no current indication that Bumrah will feature in the Asia Cup scheduled to hold later this year. Team India already has a preparatory camp planned for late August at a facility near Bengaluru.
Players scheduled to be at the training camp will be under direct supervision of Head Coach Rahul Dravid. This camp could see every player listed to partake in the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup come together for intra-squad sessions.
We expect to see players like Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Surya Kumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, and skipper Rohit Sharma at thie training camp. India’s preparatory camp will take place between August 22 and 29, 2023. Asia Cup 2023 is on schedule to start on August 30. India will take on hosts Pakistan in Pallekele, Sri Lanka two days after the event starts on September 2.

Prasidh Krishna
Another exciting pace bowler Indian fans love to see, Prasidh Krishna, is scheduled to return in the Ireland tour this August. He got the green light from medical staff and fitness experts to return after a protracted back fracture caused by stress. Krishna last played in a T20I game against Zimbabwe in August last year.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Team India selectors led by Ajit Agarkar seems to have placed much faith in Ruturaj Gaikwad’s abilities ahead of this tour. The selection committee included Gaikwad in the Ireland tour, even if he has other engagements to handle as captain of India’s T20 side to the 2023 Asian Games.
