In the meantime, WPL has become the second biggest event in the world after the Indian Premier League. Here, we will discuss all the tournament – dates of all the matches, including the WPL final, the franchisees, formats, etc.

When might the WPL begin?

The opening season of the WPL is set to begin in March and could last longer than 2 weeks. The plan is to conclude the Women’s League season before the beginning of the Indian Premier League season so that the venues can accommodate both tournaments. The tentative dates for the matches are March 4th–24th, which could last up to 21 days.

Arun Dhumal, chairman of the IPL, stated after Wednesday’s auction that the tournament’s details and itinerary and the maintenance of the grounds are in progress. The board secretary Jay Shah stated that the player auction is scheduled to take place in the first week of February.

When is the WPL final game?

The women’s Premier League is to begin in the final week of March, with the WPL final game occurring on May 28. The World Test Championship (WTC) final, likely to happen in the first week of June, will determine the schedule. Suppose the WPL final occurs on the date mentioned above. In that case, the WTC final schedule will also be unaffected, as Indian and Australian cricketers will likely play in the final based on current standings.

“With regard to the first season, we are still talking,” Dhumal said. “That is a work in progress. We will have to see logistical challenges involved if it (WPL) has to be a multi-city or single-city value.”
